Physical Adaptions
The pink fairy armadillo's shell is not completely fastened to it's body. The shell of the pink fairy armadillo is not hard, but fragile and flexible. Along with the density of blood vessels in the shell, these traits are used for thermoregulation. Thermoregulation is the process of maintaining the core temperature in your body. Thermoregulation helps the pink fairy armadillo survive because it controls the body temperature.
The pink fairy armadillo has fore limbs and claws meant for digging. The pink fairy hardly spends anytime above ground, and because the pink fairy armadillo s made for digging, it can barely walk on a flat surface! This helps the Pink Fairy Armadillo survive because they can hide underground and not be seen by any predators.
The pink fairy armadillo uses its butt plate to push back the dirt while digging. This adaptation helps the pink fairy dig more quickly, and efficiently.
Behavioral Adaptations
A pink Fairy Armadillo can bury itself in a matter of seconds! The biggest predator to the Pink Fairy armadillo is a coyote. It is amazing that the pink fairy armadillo can dig that quickly.
The pink fairy armadillo lives most of it's life underground. There might be more pink fairy armadillos than humans, but we wouldn't know because we never see them. This helps the pink fairy armadillo survive because they don't give predators a chance to get them.
When a big rain storm comes in, the pink fairy armadillo is forced to leave its burrow. If it would stay in its burrow it would drown. Also, if the hair gets wet, thermoreguation can't work and the pink fairy would get too cold.
